Job skills

Graduate with the Master degree in Plant Biotechnology has in-depth and cutting-edge knowledge of the molecular and cellular aspects of plants, with special regards to species of agricultural interest and of microorganisms. The graduate will have the necessary skills for the application of biotechnology to the plant system and to agricultural and agri-food production processes, as well as knowledge related to the use of plants and microorganisms in bioremediation and in the production of metabolites of environmental, industrial, nutraceutical/pharmaceutical interest.

Within the areas of competence, the graduate in Plant Biotechnology will be able to operate in the performance of laboratory activities, in the coordination of these activities also in the positions of responsibility, in the elaboration of procedures and in the management of production processes.

Employment opportunities

The graduate in Plant Biotechnology will be able to work in companies and public and private research institutes, or as a freelancer, in the following sectors:

• genetic improvement of plants and seed production
• agri-food and microbiological sector
•  the production of biofertilizers and biological control agents
• the production of molecules of food, industrial and pharmaceutical interest in plant and microbial systems
• bioremediation, conservation and environmental protection
• plant protection, phytosanitary and genetically modified organisms control

The specialist theoretical-practical preparation allows the graduate in Plant Biotechnology to enrol in professional registers after passing the state exam and to access the pertinent Research Doctorate and Specialization Schools in Italy and abroad.
